Questions & Answers
Did I forget to cover something you’re dying to know? Well this is your chance to ask!
A mere 1.08 inches thin and even lighter at 4.7 pounds,1 the sleek new MacBook cuts a slim profile on any desk (or in any backpack or briefcase). It features a new seamless, more durable unibody enclosure with rounded contours that make it easy to pick up and slide into and out of your bag. And it’s made of rugged polycarbonate that withstands the rough and tumble of everyday life — at school, at work, or while traveling. Even the bottom of the new MacBook feels different. Covering its entire surface is a nonslip material that keeps your MacBook right where you put it, whether on a desk, table, or airplane tray.
MacBook now features an LED-backlit 13.3-inch glossy widescreen display for an even more spectacular viewing experience. Documents, videos, photos, and games look incredibly sharp and detailed. The LED backlighting delivers stunning colors and instant full-screen brightness the moment you open the lid. And its 1280-by-800 pixel resolution offers an outstanding balance of luminous color and easy readability in a perfectly portable size.
The new MacBook Multi-Touch trackpad has no button because it is the button. That means there’s plenty of room to move your fingers around, and you can click anywhere — left, right, center, and everywhere in between. The trackpad features a silky smooth glass surface that feels great to the fingertips. Use it to perform familiar functions such as right-click or two-finger scroll as well as Multi-Touch gestures: pinch to increase font size in a document, rotate your fingers to reorient photos, swipe to navigate through web pages, and more.
MacBook portability doesn’t happen at the expense of key features. The keyboard is full size, with keys that are curved to contain your fingers and highly responsive to your touch. Its low-profile design integrates perfectly into the unibody enclosure, so you’ll get a comfortable experience whether you’re typing a quick email or writing a lengthy research report. The keyboard also gives you one-touch access to music and video controls and Mac OS X features such as Dashboard and Exposé.
Point-and-shoot and Digital SLR cameras have a knack for attracting dirt, and that grime can show up in pictures. Sand and moisture at the beach can render a good camera unusable. Here’s how to clean it.
Wipe down the body and the LCD screen, if they are dirty, with a soft cloth. If needed, apply a mild alcohol-based cleaner to the cloth. Be careful as you work around buttons and openings not to let liquid get inside.
The double cable break that occurred in the morning of August 12 between China and Taiwan; and Malaysia and Singapore has affected Smart Communication Inc.’s international and broadband services.
Affected services include international voice and SMS, as well as Internet services under Smart Bro, and Smart Bro Plug-It. “Subscribers may experience difficulty in initiating or receiving overseas calls, and sending or receiving text messages abroad,” said the service provider in a statement released to the press. “Smart Bro subscribers, on the other hand, may encounter slow or intermittent Internet connection, and difficulty in accessing Web sites hosted overseas.”
Smart said the double cable cuts are within the APCN 2 or Asia-Pacific Cable Network 2 — a submarine telecommunications cable linking several countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
The APCN 2 has landing points in Chongming, Shanghai, China;
Shantou, Guangdong Province, China; Lantau Island, Islands District, Hong Kong; Chikura, Chiba Prefecture, Japan; Kitaibaraki, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan; Pusan, South Korea; Kuantan, Pahang State, Malaysia; Batangas Bay, Batangas City, Batangas Province, Philippines; Katong, Singapore; and Tanshui, Taipei County, Taiwan
The company said it is still waiting word on the cause of the fiber cuts.
GM09 was held at Premier Cinema of SM Mall of Asia last 15th of August 2009 . Speakers were Christian Alzmann - Visual Effects Art Director of Industrial Light & Magic, Stefan Sagmeister, due to health reasons, Jens Gehlhaar would be replaced by Ludovic Schorno who has been with Brand New School for the past 6 years. Ryan Vergara and Garovs Garrovillo of Everywhere We Shoot!, Pancho Esguerra, Mark Mendoza, and Greg Garcia of Springboard and Angel Guerrero - Editor-in-Chief of Adobo Magazine.
I’ve read of Stefan Sagmeister from magazines, I found him cool and weird at the same time.. But his work is BOMB, I like his idea.. Also Industrial Light & Magic & Brand New School was so interesting, all the people was so excited to see what they have.. I’ve been to the first GM conference and it was pretty cool. The 2nd GM Ive missed because I gave birth to my little angel.
Also, this year’s GM will be a part of Manila Design Week ‘09, MDW09 is a week long, collaborative design event that will be showcased around the metro. It sounds fun but I don’t think I have the time for it. GM is enough for now. To know more about Manila Design week you can visit www.maniladesignweek.com/
Hopefully next year, GM will give us more than they had for the 3 past year..
